Announcements: Trash pickup, Covid and Cars

Hi neighbors, I'm a little slammed at work so I apologize for the delay in recapping this month's ANC meeting. I'll get there! This week, here a couple relevant notices to keep on your radar:

This Saturday is a city-wide clean up, and a Trinidad event is being organized by Danielle Jo Bays. Pick up trash bags at the playground in Joe Cole Park between 9:30 and 10am this Saturday. If you can, do your part to keep our neighborhood clean. Info here (scroll down)

  • Also, the city's pre-registration system for coronavirus vaccines is now open. It's a bit confusing on the website, but residents 65 and older or otherwise eligible are encouraged to sign up. Everyone else can sign up, but they will likely not be contacted for a vaccine appointment until later, perhaps not until May. Trinidad is lagging behind other D.C. neighborhoods in vaccinations, and may be at the bottom in terms of fully vaccinating 65+ residents:
  • DPW updates: Street sweeping, which would normally be starting up again, is still suspended for now. Some residential parking ticketing is resuming, and by next Monday, March 22, cars parked in "no parking" zones will be ticketed again. The public health emergency has been extended to at least May 20.
