Happy Holidays and Tree pickup
Happy New Year neighbors! I’m taking a brief break until the next ANC meeting, but I’m excited about the new year.
In the meantime, I’ll pass along some service journalism from WTOP, on what D.C. residents can do with their christmas trees.
If you’re really eager to get that dead tree out of your living room, you can bring it to one of four drop-off locations:
Or, the Department of Public Works will be picking up bare, undecorated, trees on trash days from January 11 through February 5. Unlike previous years, you don’t have to call 311 and schedule a pickup. Notably, it won’t be the trash trucks picking up the trees, so don’t be alarmed if it’s still out there after morning pickup, or even the next day. Tree disposal is free.

- Benning Road Transfer Station (3200 Benning Road, NE)
- Fort Totten Transfer Station (4900 John F. McCormack Drive, NE)
- Bryant Street Sweep Shop (201 Bryant St., NW)
- South Capitol Street Graffiti Shop (2700 South Capitol St., SE)
